Deputy General Manager – Legal

About the role

The Deputy General Manager – Legal will lead legal functions for real‑estate transactions, litigation, and documentation at Godrej Properties. Reporting to senior leadership, the role provides strategic legal advice, ensures statutory compliance, and supports negotiations with joint‑venture partners and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage litigation matters, especially Consumer and RERA cases, and verify solicitor bills for timely payment.
• Conduct due diligence on land records, titles, and deeds, and advise business development teams on statutory compliance.
• Coordinate with external legal firms to draft and finalize development agreements, term sheets, affidavits, indemnities, and other legal documents.
• Prepare and review customer agreements, possession schedules, payment terms, and delay clauses in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of land transactions and ensure adherence to litigation timelines.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in litigation, land laws, and real‑estate regulations, particularly Maharashtra and RERA.
• Proven ability to lead legal negotiations with JV partners, solicitors, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of statutory compliance for real‑estate projects.
• Excellent coordination skills with external counsel and internal teams.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Maharashtra land laws and RERA regulations.
• Expertise in legal due diligence and documentation management.
• Experience drafting development agreements, term sheets, and related legal instruments.
