Data Center Technician

About the role

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation team is looking for a Data Center Technician to stage, set up and deploy hardware across its global data centre portfolio. You will work on a variety of tasks that support the core infrastructure behind services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive and Azure.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting and component replacement following standard operating procedures.
• Execute post‑deployment quality checks, ensuring proper grounding, staging, labeling and cabling according to safety and design standards.
• De‑commission hardware for simple upgrades or refreshes with minimal guidance.
• Communicate, report and escalate incidents to data‑center operations management, technician leads and engineering specialists.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow technicians on complex tasks.

Required profile

• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain high accuracy under minimal disruption.
• Strong attention to safety protocols and documentation standards.
• Willingness to complete role‑specific training and certifications.
