Dam Design Specialist – National Expert

About the role

The Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) seeks a seasoned Dam Design Specialist to provide national‑level technical expertise. You will lead the planning, design, and detailed engineering of dam rehabilitation and new dam components, ensuring safety and resilience across multiple states.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for dam rehabilitation and new structures.
• Assess hydraulic, structural, geotechnical, and stability analyses.
• Evaluate design drawings, calculations, specifications, and engineering reports.
• Recommend improvements to enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with BIS Codes, CWC guidelines, the Dam Safety Act, and international best practices.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and project authorities.
• Provide technical support during construction, reviewing design modifications and resolving issues.
• Participate in technical review meetings and prepare technical reports, design manuals, and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or equivalent (mandatory).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in dam planning, design, and detailed engineering.
• Experience on at least five large dam projects.
• Prior work on World Bank, AIIB, ADB, or similar externally funded projects is a plus.
