Assistant Operations Manager

About the role

JMT Consultants is seeking an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to support the Steel Detailing team. The role involves assisting the Operations Manager in day‑to‑day activities, ensuring smooth project execution, and maintaining high quality standards across steel detailing projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Operations Manager in planning and implementing operational procedures, processes, and policies.
• Supervise daily activities of project teams, allocate resources, and monitor project progress and manpower utilization.
• Conduct periodic quality checks of drawings and models to ensure compliance with client standards.
• Identify operational bottlenecks, propose improvements, and prepare operational reports.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Checkers, Modelers, and Editors to establish priorities, schedules, and resource balancing.

Required profile

• B.Tech/B.E. in Civil or Mechanical engineering (or equivalent postgraduate qualification).
• 15+ years of experience in steel detailing, with at least 10 years in project management.
• Proven experience on commercial US projects and familiarity with AISC & CISC standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures.
• In‑depth knowledge of AISC and CISC standards.
• Experience with model checking and erection checking.
