Commis Chef – Hotel Kitchen (Kochi)

About the role

The Commis Chef will join the culinary team at Gokulam Park Hotel and Convention Centre in Kochi. Working full‑time on‑site, you will support senior chefs in preparing, cooking and plating dishes across multiple cuisines while maintaining the hotel’s high standards of taste, presentation and hygiene.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in daily food preparation, mise en place and cooking for à la carte, buffet and banquet services.
• Follow standard recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency.
• Maintain proper storage, rotation and labeling of ingredients.
• Support senior chefs during service, including plating and garnish.
• Uphold strict kitchen hygiene, safety and cleanliness standards.
• Collaborate with kitchen and service teams to respond to guest requests.

Required profile

• Strong food preparation and basic culinary skills.
• Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food‑safety practices.
• Effective communication to work smoothly with kitchen and service staff.
• Formal culinary training or a diploma in Hotel Management/Culinary Arts is preferred.
• Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant or banquet kitchen is an advantage.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and in a fast‑paced environment.
• Attention to detail, reliability and a positive learning attitude.
