CMM Engineer – Coordinate Measuring Machine Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a skilled CMM Engineer to operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines, ensuring precise dimensional verification of machined and cast components. The role supports production, quality and new product development teams in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate Carl Zeiss CMMs and develop/modify inspection programs using CALYPSO software.
• Perform first‑off, in‑process and final dimensional inspections, measuring GD&T characteristics, profiles, flatness, concentricity, position, runout, etc.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and tolerance requirements to verify components against specifications.
• Inspect critical casting features before and after machining and support investigations of casting‑related dimensional issues.
• Collaborate with Production, CNC/VMC/HMC, Quality and NPD teams, providing dimensional feedback and identifying variation trends.
• Prepare and maintain CMM inspection reports, calibration records and traceability documentation for PPAP, customer approval and rejection analysis.
• Analyze deviations, support 8D, CAPA and continuous improvement activities such as Root Cause Analysis and Kaizen.
• Coordinate periodic CMM calibration, maintain probes, fixtures and measuring accessories.

Required profile

• 2–6 years of experience in CMM inspection/programming, preferably with automotive machining and casting components.
• Hands‑on experience with Carl Zeiss CMM systems.
• Strong knowledge of machining, casting processes and GD&T.
• Ability to work closely with production and quality teams to drive process improvements.
