Chief Rolling Stock Design Engineer

About the role

DB Engineering & Consulting is seeking a Chief Rolling Stock Design Engineer to lead the design and development of metro train rolling stock in Ahmedabad. You will be responsible for the complete engineering lifecycle, from concept through commissioning, ensuring that all systems meet the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and development of rolling stock components including carbody, propulsion, braking, HVAC and interiors.
• Ensure compliance with technical standards, safety norms and project specifications.
• Review and approve design drawings, system architecture and contractor submissions.
• Coordinate with signalling, PSD, traction, telecom and system integration teams for seamless interfacing.
• Define and manage train‑system interface requirements such as CBTC and PSD synchronization.
• Support tender preparation, technical evaluation and procurement of rolling stock.
• Oversee manufacturing, assembly, inspection and factory acceptance tests (FAT).
• Supervise testing, commissioning, trial runs and performance validation.
• Monitor project progress, quality and delivery schedules while maintaining documentation and as‑built records.
• Plan fleet performance optimisation, maintenance strategy and future upgrades.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Engineering.
• Approximately 20 years of total professional experience.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience in metro or rail rolling stock design.
