Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at branch locations, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes end‑of‑day reconciliation, cash handling, and providing courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, issue acknowledgements, and disburse cash up to authorized limits.
• Collect cash against deposit challans, manage EMI repayments, and maintain accurate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and asset registers, and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and ensure vault security jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, identify cross‑sell opportunities, and educate them on alternate channels.
• Adhere to transaction turnaround times, regulatory requirements, and bank policies for cash management.

Required profile

• UG degree in any discipline, preferably Finance or Commerce.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience handling high‑volume cash transactions and making entries in financial modules/ERP.

Required skills

• Cash handling and accounting proficiency.
• Computer operation with relevant banking software (training provided).
• Strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
