Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a bank branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role includes handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments, maintaining accurate registers, and providing excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty cash, and assets registers; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, reconcile transactions, and prepare end‑of‑day reports.
• Jointly manage the branch vault with the Operations Officer and ensure safe custody of cash, keys and valuables.
• Interact with customers, address queries, cross‑sell products, and educate them on alternate banking channels.
• Ensure adherence to transaction turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies.

• Ability to follow banking guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Capability to work collaboratively with branch staff and senior management.
