Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role supports smooth branch operations through accurate cash handling, customer service, and end‑of‑day reconciliation.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, issuing acknowledgements as required.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans, maintaining accurate system entries.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and update relevant registers.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash and asset registers, and forward requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and manage the branch vault in coordination with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, address queries, and promote bank products and alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, banking regulations, and internal policies for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking transactions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to reconcile cash accurately.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and cross‑selling services.
• Understanding of banking regulations and internal compliance procedures.
