Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a bank branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate processing, proper record‑keeping, and end‑of‑day reconciliation while delivering courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, issuing acknowledgements as required.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans, maintaining accurate system entries.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and update relevant registers.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash and asset registers, and forward requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, promote cross‑selling opportunities, and educate them on alternate banking channels.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, banking regulations, and internal policies for all cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity for cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit compliance.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and bank transaction processing.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record‑keeping.
• Good understanding of banking regulations and internal audit requirements.
• Ability to provide courteous customer service and handle inquiries efficiently.
