C++ Application Developer – Semiconductor Automation

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a senior C++ Application Developer to design and build software solutions that drive semiconductor manufacturing automation. You will work on cutting‑edge technologies, including AI‑enabled systems, to improve productivity and quality for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable, reliable software for semiconductor manufacturing automation.
• Drive architecture and technical direction across services, choosing pragmatic technologies for scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Work across the stack – frontend, backend, databases, messaging, Kubernetes configurations, AI‑powered systems and helm charts.
• Partner with product managers, customers and domain experts to translate workflow challenges into effective software solutions.
• Mentor engineers through technical coaching, design reviews and code reviews.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building production‑grade systems.
• Strong foundations in software design, distributed systems, data structures, algorithms and system architecture.
• Experience designing and building backend services using C++ and Java.
• Experience developing modern web applications with React or Angular.
• Experience with event‑driven architectures, message‑based systems and Kubernetes deployment.
