Branch Cashier – Full-time

About the role

This position is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations for a bank branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines, and maintaining accurate cash registers and system entries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash against deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward and outward cash registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; send requisition forms to the regional head office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and ensure accurate vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, identify cross‑selling opportunities, and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Provide courteous customer service, handle queries and grievances, and explain repayment dates and contact details.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for cash transactions.

Required profile

• Ability to handle cash accurately and maintain detailed registers.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of banking procedures, cash‑handling guidelines, and compliance requirements.
• Attention to detail for verifying cash slips, loan repayments, and vault operations.
• Capability to work collaboratively with branch staff and senior management.
