Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the bank branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. The role ensures accurate processing of deposits, withdrawals, cheque handling, and end‑of‑day reconciliation while providing courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, issuing acknowledgements.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash against deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, assets register and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report and ensure accurate vault handling jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during transactions, identify cross‑selling opportunities and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Adhere to defined turnaround times, comply with all regulations and bank policies related to cashier operations and cash management.
• Validate customer authenticity for cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit requirements.

Required profile

• Ability to handle cash and related documents accurately and responsibly.
• Strong attention to detail for register maintenance and daily reconciliation.
• Good customer service orientation with the capacity to explain banking procedures clearly.
• Understanding of banking regulations and internal cash‑handling policies.
