Baggage Screener

About the role

The Baggage Screener ensures safe and efficient screening of hold baggage at airport checkpoints, complying with all regulatory standards and detecting prohibited items or security threats. The role involves operating advanced screening equipment, documenting findings, and interacting with passengers and security staff.

Key responsibilities

• Attend all mandatory regulatory trainings and clear them as required.
• Operate X‑BIS imaging equipment to detect dangerous goods, prohibited articles, weapons, or ammunition in check‑in baggage.
• Perform physical inspections and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) tests on baggage flagged by X‑ray screening.
• Maintain high Threat Image Projection (TIP) scores to demonstrate strong image interpretation capabilities.
• Follow BCAS and DGCA guidelines to ensure strict compliance during baggage handling and inspection.
• Record and document all findings to meet audit and inspection requirements.
• Conduct routine pre‑operational checks of X‑BIS, ETD, CT‑EDS and other security equipment, reporting any malfunctions.
• Collaborate with CISF and airline staff during physical inspections and provide timely updates to supervisors.

Required profile

• Willingness to complete and maintain regulatory training certifications.
• Ability to follow aviation security directives and standard operating procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under time‑critical conditions.
• Effective communication and coordination with security personnel and airline staff.

Required skills

• Operation of X‑BIS imaging equipment.
• Experience with ETD (Explosive Trace Detection) testing.
• Familiarity with CT‑EDS (Computed Tomography – Explosive Detection System).
• Image analysis and Threat Image Projection (TIP) scoring.
• Knowledge of BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security) guidelines.
• Understanding of DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) regulations.
