API Software Engineer - AVP

About the role

Barclays is looking for an experienced API Software Engineer (AVP) in Bengaluru to design, develop, support and enhance enterprise API and integration solutions. The role covers API management, middleware development, platform reliability, observability and operational support across cloud and on-premise environments, with L2/L3 production support and a focus on automation, SRE practices and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain reliable, scalable, secure and resilient integration platforms, collaborating with development, infrastructure, architecture and operations teams.
• Develop, deploy and support integration solutions with TIBCO BusinessWorks 5.x, 6.x and BWCE, and manage APIs with Apigee Edge on Google Cloud Platform.
• Build RESTful APIs, microservices and integration services, and use Core Java, Python and JavaScript for automation and serverless processing.
• Implement messaging and event-driven integrations with TIBCO EMS and IBM MQ, and containerized apps with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Provide L2/L3 support, drive observability with Datadog (dashboards, alerts, distributed tracing, logs), and run incident management and root cause analysis.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates, support CI/CD pipelines with Maven, and tune performance and capacity.
• Build automated testing frameworks with Cucumber and BDD, and take part in on-call support and major incident management.

Required profile

• Experience in large-scale, complex or long-lived codebases, with clean, testable and maintainable code.
• Ability to balance technical quality, operational stability, performance and delivery; comfortable giving technical guidance, code reviews and architectural direction.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, and collaborative leadership style.
• Permanent contract.
