AML Compliance Analyst – Financial Crimes

About the role

Join Alpaca's global Financial Crimes team to protect customers and markets. You will support the BSA/AML, sanctions, anti‑fraud, and securities surveillance programs for Alpaca Securities, investigating suspicious activity and strengthening risk‑based controls.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with globally‑distributed teams to implement and enhance the Financial Crimes program across CIP/KYC, AML, anti‑fraud, and fraud monitoring initiatives.
• Investigate suspicious activity through transaction‑monitoring alerts, escalations, and referrals, ensuring timely completion within SLAs.
• Screen individuals, entities, and transactions against OFAC, global sanctions, PEP, enforcement, and adverse‑media watchlists.
• Prepare clear SAR recommendations and narratives, and support filing of approved SARs with FinCEN.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation of investigations, alert dispositions, and compliance decisions.
• Support enhancements to transaction‑monitoring rules, policies, procedures, and risk frameworks.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in Financial Crime/AML investigations for retail, institutional, or foreign financial firms.
• Strong understanding of U.S. regulatory requirements (BSA/AML, USA PATRIOT Act, SEC/FINRA).
• Ability to identify and document unusual activity in a clear, audit‑ready manner.
• Excellent investigative writing skills for case narratives and SAR recommendations.
• Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
