Airport Firefighter (ARFF Assistant)

About the role

The Airport Firefighter (ARFF Assistant) is responsible for responding to aircraft, structural fire, medical, and hazardous material emergencies on airport premises. The role ensures the safety of passengers, crew, and airport personnel through rapid firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to aircraft incidents, structural fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous material incidents.
• Perform fire suppression using water, foam, dry chemicals, and other agents.
• Conduct search and rescue operations in smoke‑filled or hazardous environments.
• Provide first aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) until advanced medical personnel arrive.
• Maintain daily inspections, servicing, and readiness of firefighting vehicles, extinguishers, and PPE.
• Manage inventory of firefighting supplies and equipment.
• Participate in routine emergency simulations, ICAO‑mandated training, and fire drills.
• Document incidents, training records, and shift logs for regulatory audits.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and follow Standard Operating Procedures.

• Physical fitness and ability to work in high‑stress, smoke‑filled environments.
• Capability to perform rapid response and rescue operations.
• Attention to detail for equipment maintenance and regulatory reporting.
• Willingness to participate in continuous training and drills.
