Aerothermal Engineer

About the role

The Aerothermal Engineer will join the Thermal Solutions team within Airbus' Structures department. You will be responsible for performing thermal assessments of aircraft structures and assemblies, ensuring integrity under normal operation and failure scenarios.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thermal analysis on aircraft structures for both nominal and fault conditions.
• Apply CFD‑based multiphysics methods to deliver comprehensive thermal evaluations.
• Provide structural thermal analysis support to assess the impact of thermal loads on design and certification.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to guarantee the quality and compliance of deliverables.
• Support operability and in‑service assessments related to thermal performance.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of aircraft structures, systems, and aero‑thermal environments.
• Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, material properties, refrigerants and cooling systems.
• Hands‑on experience with numerical modelling tools such as 1D analysis (Amesim), FE/FV methods, and CFD.
• Ability to learn new tools and processes quickly.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Required skills

• NX11, Simcenter 3D, NX‑IDEAS, TMG, CATIA.
• CFD tools: Star CCM+, FLUENT.
• Amesim for 1D analysis.
• Basic programming knowledge (C, Python, Fortran, Java).
• Thermal simulation, temperature mapping, and aero‑thermal analysis.
