Accountant – Startup Finance Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join our fast‑growing software/technology startup. You will manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensure statutory compliance, and provide accurate financial insights to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain books of accounts, including journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, and vendor payments.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Handle GST, TDS, income tax compliance, and statutory filings.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, and expense controls.
• Support payroll processing and employee reimbursements.
• Prepare MIS reports, financial analysis, and forecasts for management.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Implement and improve accounting processes suitable for a growing startup.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a startup or IT/software environment.
• Strong knowledge of Indian taxation (GST, TDS, Income Tax).
• Very good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with accounting software such as Tally, Zoho Books, or QuickBooks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
