Academic Head – Pre‑Primary

About the role

The Academic Head – Pre‑Primary leads the academic excellence of the Pre‑Nursery, Nursery, LKG and UKG sections. Reporting to the Principal, the role ensures a safe, joyful and child‑centric learning environment that aligns with the school’s vision and the NEP 2020 framework.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the pre‑primary curriculum across all classes and develop annual, monthly and daily lesson plans.
• Introduce innovative, experiential and play‑based learning methodologies.
• Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate pre‑primary teachers; conduct classroom observations and provide feedback.
• Review lesson plans, worksheets and assessment tools; ensure age‑appropriate assessments and track student progress.
• Monitor children’s academic, social, emotional and behavioural development and recommend interventions.
• Organise parent‑teacher meetings, orientation sessions and maintain strong school‑parent partnerships.
• Plan and oversee celebrations, assemblies, theme‑based activities, field trips and other educational events.
• Maintain academic documentation, classroom displays and teaching resources; ensure compliance with school policies and safety standards.
• Coordinate with admissions, operations and support staff and participate in strategic school planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience in early childhood education leadership.
• Strong knowledge of the NEP 2020 and early‑childhood education standards.
• Ability to mentor teachers, conduct observations and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging parents and collaborating with senior management.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment for young learners.
