Sr. Trade Compliance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Trade Compliance Engineer to lead the classification, country‑of‑origin, and component qualification activities for our engineering teams. The role involves close collaboration with configuration management, buyers, and external brokers to ensure compliance with global trade regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Determine HTSUS classifications for components and finished goods and maintain HTS data in corporate systems.
• Maintain visibility of new item set‑ups with the configuration management team and update SOPs.
• Handle country‑of‑origin data, liaise with brokers and corporate trade compliance on classification issues.
• Coordinate with buyers to ensure purchase requisition attributes are met and communicate with distributors/manufacturers for accurate part classification.
• Monitor daily reports for new items, perform duplicity checks, and correct errors in PLM and PeopleSoft databases.
• Record and maintain COTS part history, manage COTS/material changes in PLM/PDM, and support data cleanup for raw materials and components.
• Provide technical support for engineering change requests and resolve technical queries from customers or field technicians.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes (ASME, ASTM, AISC, IEC) and uphold safety and HSE policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or related engineering discipline.
• Six or more years of experience in component engineering or trade compliance.
• Strong understanding of trade compliance codes, standards and relevant industry codes.

Required skills

• HTSUS classification expertise.
• Proficiency with PLM/PDM and PeopleSoft systems.
• Microsoft Office applications.
• COTS database management.
• Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, AISC and IEC standards.
