Software Engineer – Routing Protocols

About the role

Arista Networks is seeking a Software Engineer to join its IP Routing Protocols team in Bengaluru. You will develop and maintain routing protocol software that runs on Arista's EOS, the Linux‑based operating system powering the company’s data‑center switches.

Key responsibilities

• Write functional and design specifications for routing‑protocol features.
• Implement solutions in C, C++ and Python, and develop automated test programs.
• Debug and fix issues discovered by automated tests or reported by customers.
• Collaborate with Customer Support and System Test engineers to resolve network problems.
• Mentor junior engineers and review code and specifications from teammates.
• Maintain project schedules and report progress to the project lead.

Required profile

• B.Tech, M.Tech or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2‑8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and IP networking concepts.
• Hands‑on experience designing or developing IP routing protocols (e.g., RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS‑IS, PIM) or distributed‑system software.
• Proven ability to solve problems independently and work effectively in a small team.
