Senior Checker

About the role

JMT Consultants is looking for an experienced Senior Checker to join its Steel Detailing team. The role involves reviewing and validating 3D structural models and related drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret technical specifications and review connection design drawings, raising RFIs for any discrepancies.
• Perform detailed 3D model checking in Tekla Structures, verifying material grades, finishes, bolt grades, weld specifications, and IFC standards.
• Conduct clash detection, resolve conflicts, and ensure all review comments are incorporated before model release.
• Generate required drawings from the approved model and coordinate with document control for transmittals.
• Mentor junior checkers and support the Project Manager in team coordination and delivery.

Required profile

• Industrial or commercial drafting diploma (DVS or DEP) or a Civil Engineering Technical degree.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in structural steel detailing using 3D modelling software.
• Recent (within 1 year) hands‑on experience with AISC and CISC standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Tekla Structures for model checking.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD or other detailing software.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
• Understanding of AISC and CISC standards.
