Procurement & Contract Expert

About the role

SMEC is seeking a senior Procurement & Contract Expert to lead procurement, contract administration and commercial management for large‑scale infrastructure projects in Hyderabad, Pakistan. The role will ensure compliance with international standards while coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end procurement processes, including planning, market engagement, tendering and contract award.
• Administer contracts in line with FIDIC conditions, manage variations, claims and dispute resolution.
• Prepare and review procurement documents, tender packages, evaluation reports and commercial correspondence.
• Monitor contract performance, ensure compliance with governance, risk and commercial best practices.
• Support multidisciplinary infrastructure programmes and large‑scale engineering deliveries.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Law, Business Administration, Procurement, Contract or Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in procurement, contract/commercial management, with at least 12 years in tendering, bid evaluation and contract administration on major water infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience on projects funded by international development agencies or multilateral institutions is a strong advantage.
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication and negotiation abilities.
