Principal Software Engineer – Enterprise SaaS Platform

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to shape the next generation of Diligent’s enterprise SaaS platform. The role blends deep hands‑on development with technical leadership, guiding teams across backend, frontend, cloud and AI technologies while defining architecture and driving AI‑native engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical architecture of the SaaS platform, producing high‑level and low‑level designs for complex systems.
• Translate business and product requirements into scalable designs, implementation plans and engineering deliverables.
• Establish Spec‑Driven Development and drive adoption of AI‑PDLC across the software lifecycle.
• Build and evolve backend services and APIs using Node.js/TypeScript and Python, and contribute to frontend architecture with React or Angular.
• Design cloud‑native, microservices and event‑driven solutions on AWS, Azure or GCP, using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
• Promote engineering best practices in CI/CD, testing, observability, security and AI‑assisted development workflows.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence technical decisions across multiple teams.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience delivering production software, preferably in large‑scale SaaS or cloud environments.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Node.js/TypeScript and/or Python, and experience building modern frontend applications.
• Proven ability to design distributed, microservices and event‑driven architectures and create API contracts.
• Extensive experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.
