Principal Engineer - Rail Structures

About the role

DB Engineering & Consulting is seeking a Principal Engineer specialized in rail structures to join its Bangalore project team. You will lead the structural analysis, design and optimisation of complex railway infrastructure, ensuring compliance with international standards and project quality procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Independently perform structural analysis, design and optimisation of railway structures, primarily bridges.
• Review and validate design calculations, drawings, BIM models and technical reports.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate, junior and design engineers.
• Support lead engineers in design coordination, technical resolution and quality control.
• Ensure all deliverables meet applicable codes, standards and project quality procedures.
• Participate in technical reviews, coordination meetings and interface management.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Civil Engineering; postgraduate qualification in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in structural analysis and design of railway structures, especially bridges.
• Proven experience with RCC, steel and prestressed concrete structures.
• Strong knowledge of design codes, standards and quality procedures across all design stages.
• Ability to guide junior engineers and ensure consistency and quality of design outputs.
• Experience supporting lead engineers in design coordination and technical decision‑making.
