Mechanical Engineer – Packaging (Supplier Transfer Excellence)

About the role

Philips is looking for a Mechanical Engineer specialized in packaging to join the Supplier Transfer Excellence Team. You will support global cross‑functional projects, improve packaging designs and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support global cross‑functional teams on supplier transfer and sustaining projects.
• Create engineering drawings, 3D models and detailed specifications for product packaging using CAD tools.
• Apply GD&T, perform tolerance stack‑up analysis and update designs to enhance manufacturability, quality and cost.
• Review supplier part qualification activities and work with engineering to optimise the packaging supply base.
• Conduct DFM/DFA reviews, select suitable packaging materials, generate BOMs and perform hand calculations.
• Use Windchill/Agile PLM for change management and develop test plans to verify packaging performance.

Required profile

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile or Industrial Engineering (Masters preferred).
• 6+ years of design engineering and product development experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
• Proven experience supporting global projects and working with ISTA and other packaging standards.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and English communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD tools – Creo and SolidWorks.
• Experience with Windchill, Agile PLM and GD&T.
• Knowledge of ISTA packaging standards and tolerance analysis.
• Competence in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
