US Tax Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented US Tax Accountant to lead federal, state and local tax compliance, reporting and planning. The successful candidate will ensure accurate filings, maintain IRS and state authority compliance, and support tax‑strategy initiatives to minimise liabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships and LLCs.
• Ensure compliance with IRS and state tax regulations.
• Prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions (ASC 740) where applicable.
• Provide tax planning and advisory services to optimise tax positions.
• Conduct tax research and stay current on US tax law changes.
• Manage tax audits, respond to notices and liaise with tax authorities.
• Prepare sales & use tax, payroll tax and other indirect tax filings.
• Reconcile tax accounts and maintain documentation for reporting.
• Support financial‑statement preparation and collaborate with the finance team.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of experience in US taxation.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and federal/state tax regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with tax software such as UltraTax, Drake or ProSeries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with accounting systems like QuickBooks or NetSuite.
