Software Engineer II – Java Backend (Issuance)

About the role

As a Software Engineer II at Nium, you will join a cross‑functional team that builds and maintains the core platforms powering real‑time, cross‑border payments and card issuance. You will focus on Java backend development, delivering clean, maintainable code that supports rapid product evolution.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship Java‑based features and bug fixes under guidance from senior engineers.
• Write efficient, testable code following project standards and coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers in an agile environment.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and continuous integration processes.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and interact with relational databases.
• Contribute to unit and integration testing to ensure code quality and reliability.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of professional experience in backend or full‑stack software development.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles and design patterns.
• Self‑motivated, curious, and passionate about building high‑quality software.
