Data Operator – Render Farm Management

About the role

The Data Operator works within the Data Operations and Render Support department to monitor, manage and deliver digital data throughout a VFX project lifecycle. The role ensures that incoming assets, generated data, and final deliverables are processed efficiently, while maintaining the physical render farm and its software for high availability.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, prioritize and control render farm queues to meet production deadlines.
• Detect and troubleshoot render errors, restart failed tasks and log issues for artists and supervisors.
• Allocate compute resources and manage disk space across file systems.
• Communicate render status and final frame delivery to animators, producers and CG supervisors.
• Identify data for archival, coordinate removal with technical directors and restore archived data when needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 3+ years experience in data operations, rendering, systems or pipeline within a VFX/CG studio.
• Experience with Maya, Nuke and/or Houdini and render‑farm management tools such as Renderman, Deadline or Tractor.
• Familiarity with Linux environments.
• Basic understanding of visual effects and computer‑graphics terminology.
