Software Development Engineer in Test (Network Security)

About the role

Sophos is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to design, develop and maintain test plans, automated test suites and system testbeds for its Network Security product line. You will work closely with feature teams to improve test coverage, provide fast feedback and accelerate product delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end quality for assigned features, components or services.
• Design and execute functional, integration, system and regression tests.
• Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and failure scenarios.
• Identify, document and track defects with clear reproduction steps and impact analysis.
• Develop and maintain automated test cases for APIs, backend systems and UI.
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers and other QA engineers during requirement and design reviews.
• Analyze test results and provide quality insights for release decisions.

Required profile

• 4‑5 years of experience in software quality engineering or test automation.
• Strong hands‑on testing expertise with a focus on automation.
• Ability to identify risks early, prevent defects and continuously improve product quality.
