Senior Restaurant Captain

About the role

Urban Gluttony Co. is seeking a Senior Restaurant Captain to lead the floor operations of its flagship dining venue in Chennai. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures that every guest experiences seamless service, from the moment they are welcomed to the final farewell.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily floor operations, guaranteeing smooth service and prompt issue resolution.
• Lead and support the service team during shifts, including briefing staff, assigning sections, and coordinating with kitchen and bar.
• Uphold brand standards by greeting and seating guests, guiding them through the menu, and monitoring table turnover.
• Maintain high levels of cleanliness and readiness across the dining area.
• Train new team members and reinforce best practices.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and track guest feedback.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of service standards and overall guest experience.

Required profile

• Proven supervisory experience leading front‑of‑house teams in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
• Strong focus on customer satisfaction with a guest‑first mindset.
• Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
• Solid understanding of food & beverage service standards and coordination with kitchen and bar.
• Prior experience as a Restaurant Captain, Head Server, or similar senior role.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and composure during busy periods.
• Knowledge of basic POS systems and order management processes; hospitality diploma preferred or equivalent experience.
