Safety Engineer / Safety Officer – Construction Projects

About the role

The Safety Engineer / Safety Officer will lead the implementation of safety, health and environmental standards across high‑rise, township and commercial building projects. You will work closely with project managers, contractors and site teams to ensure safe work practices and compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Implement site safety plans, EHS policies and statutory safety requirements.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, identify unsafe acts, conditions and hazards.
• Monitor high‑risk activities such as work at height, scaffolding, excavation, lifting, hot work, electrical and confined‑space work.
• Ensure proper use of PPE by all personnel and visitors.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, training programs and emergency drills.
• Maintain safety documentation: permits, checklists, inspection reports, training records and incident reports.
• Inspect scaffolding, formwork, lifting equipment, cranes, hoists and temporary electrical installations.
• Investigate accidents, near‑misses and dangerous occurrences, preparing reports and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with contractors, statutory authorities and internal audit teams during inspections.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly safety MIS reports.

Required profile

• Diploma, B.E. or B.Tech in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in construction site safety management.
• Familiarity with statutory safety regulations and EHS standards.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, HIRA and JSA.

Required skills

• Risk assessment and hazard identification.
• Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
• Preparation of method statements, emergency response plans and lifting plans.
• Inspection of scaffolding, formwork, lifting tools, cranes and temporary electrical installations.
• PPE compliance monitoring.
