Research Assistant Professor – Law (Research Track)

About the role

GITAM School of Law invites applications for a research‑intensive Assistant Professor (Research) position in the Department of Law. The role focuses on high‑quality legal scholarship, limited teaching, and mentorship of graduate students, aligned with UGC norms.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research leading to publications in peer‑reviewed, UGC‑CARE listed, or Scopus‑indexed journals and edited volumes.
• Conceptualise, apply for, and manage funded research projects from national or international agencies, government bodies, or industry partners.
• Supervise and mentor LL.B, LL.M, and Ph.D. candidates, fostering a vibrant research culture.
• Contribute to curriculum design, course delivery, and development of research centres or projects within the School of Law.
• Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, moot courts, and clinical legal education initiatives.

Required profile

• LL.M with at least 55% marks (or equivalent) from a recognised university.
• Ph.D. in Law or a closely allied discipline, awarded per UGC regulations.
• Demonstrated research potential with a minimum of five publications in reputable journals or edited volumes.
• Evidence of involvement in research projects, conferences, or legal education activities.
• Fresh Ph.D. holders with a strong research record are welcome; prior teaching or research experience is an advantage.
