Project Manager – Purchasing (Supplier Parts)

About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated Project Manager – Purchasing to lead end‑to‑end coordination of supplier parts, from request for quotation (RFQ) through engineering change release (ECR). The role is based at our Chennai facility and supports global sourcing, risk management and cost‑saving initiatives for automotive electronic components.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the full purchasing lifecycle for supplier parts, including RFQ issuance, technical supplier discussions, feasibility confirmation and risk assessment.
- Develop and implement part‑bundling strategies (part families, material clusters) and support alternate source development.
- Coordinate sample ordering, VQP and PPAP activities with cross‑functional teams.
- Drive change management processes (ECR) for procured components and conduct regular project reviews.
- Lead workshops to identify cost‑saving opportunities through design RPP, standardisation and supplier optimisation.
- Oversee relocation/transfer projects with global stakeholders.
Required profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Professional experience in purchasing, engineering, manufacturing or project management.
- Strong understanding of drawing interpretation and technical specifications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
