Power System Engineer – Grid Interconnection

About the role

Vestas is seeking a Power System Engineer to join its Global Power Plant Solutions team in Chennai. The role focuses on grid interconnection studies, compliance with grid codes, and the design of balance‑of‑plant (BoP) solutions for wind and hybrid power plants.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review electrical power system simulation models for wind and hybrid plants.
• Analyse site‑specific grid interconnection requirements and applicable grid codes.
• Design and review BoP configurations for wind power projects.
• Present solutions and coordinate with grid operators and customers.
• Collaborate closely with regional PPS colleagues and produce technical reports.
• Guide junior engineers or trainees and lead a team as the GGS Regional Lead.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Power Systems or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in power system studies for renewable energy projects.
• Experience designing and reviewing renewable grid‑interconnection solutions.
• Familiarity with grid codes and compliance for multiple TSOs.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Hands‑on experience with simulation tools such as PSS/E, Power Factory, PSCAD or ETAP.

• Load‑flow, short‑circuit, transient and harmonic analysis.
• Relay setting and coordination, eBoP design.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
