Pharmacist – Ophthalmic & General Pharmacy Specialist

About the role

The hospital pharmacy is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to manage both ophthalmic and general medication dispensing. The role involves ensuring accurate prescription processing, patient counseling, and maintaining a safe, compliant pharmacy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately dispense prescribed ophthalmic and general medications, verifying dosage, drug interactions, and contraindications.
• Educate patients on proper use, dosage, side effects, and storage of eye drops, ointments, and other medicines.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels, track expiry dates, and coordinate procurement to avoid shortages.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, government regulations, and controlled‑drug documentation.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
• Implement quality‑control measures for storage, handling, and hygiene within the pharmacy.
• Train junior pharmacy staff and keep hospital personnel updated on drug‑related guidelines.
• Participate in internal audits, prepare usage reports, and support NABH and other quality standards.

Required profile

• Ability to verify prescriptions for dosage accuracy, drug interactions, and contraindications.
• Capability to educate patients on medication use and safety.
• Experience in inventory and supply‑chain management for pharmaceutical products.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance, documentation, and controlled‑drug handling.
• Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
