About the role
The Infection Control Nurse (ICN) is responsible for safeguarding patients, staff and visitors by preventing and controlling healthcare‑associated infections within the new hospital facility. This on‑site position will lead the design, implementation and continuous monitoring of the infection prevention program.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct daily clinical rounds to track HAIs such as VAP, CAUTI, CLABSI and SSI.
- Review microbiology reports, monitor multi‑drug resistant organisms and alert relevant departments.
- Investigate, manage and report suspected or confirmed infectious disease outbreaks.
- Ensure compliance with standard, contact, droplet and airborne isolation protocols.
- Perform regular hand‑hygiene audits across all departments.
- Oversee biomedical waste segregation, environmental sanitation and CSSD processes.
- Develop and deliver training modules on infection control for clinical and support staff.
- Educate patients, relatives and visitors on basic infection prevention measures.
- Collect, analyse and report infection control data, preparing monthly reports for the Hospital Infection Control Committee.
Required profile
- BSc in Nursing or General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) from a recognized council.
- Valid and active registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Strong knowledge of infection surveillance, outbreak investigation and hospital infection control standards.
