Housekeeper – Full‑time Hospitality Role

About the role

The Housekeeper at The Salt Restaurant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across all designated areas, including dining spaces, restrooms, staff areas, and storage rooms. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Kerala, India and works closely with the wider restaurant team to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for guests. The role requires strict adherence to health and safety standards and proactive communication with management.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and dust all floor surfaces in dining, kitchen, and back‑of‑house areas to keep them spotless.
• Disinfect tables, chairs, countertops, and high‑touch surfaces regularly to prevent the spread of germs.
• Manage waste disposal by emptying bins, sorting recyclables, and ensuring proper sanitation of trash areas.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities to guarantee uninterrupted service.
• Handle laundry duties, including washing, drying, ironing, folding, and storing linens and staff uniforms.
• Inspect rooms and facilities for maintenance or safety issues and promptly report them to management.
• Maintain organized storage rooms and ensure cleaning equipment is stored safely after use.

Required profile

• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail to keep all areas clean and orderly.
• Ability to perform laundry tasks such as washing, drying, ironing, and proper storage of linens and uniforms.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and responding to guest or staff requests.
• Customer‑service mindset with professionalism, respect, and a focus on creating a comfortable environment for guests.
• Willingness to learn and follow established cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and hygiene standards.
• Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, and lift moderate weights throughout the shift.
• Basic understanding of cleaning products and safe handling practices.
