Executive – Indirect Tax

About the role

As an Executive – Indirect Tax you will lead GST litigation and compliance activities, ensuring Cognizant adheres to evolving indirect tax regulations. You will work closely with finance and business stakeholders to manage audits, respond to regulatory notices, and support the organization’s compliance and governance objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support litigation related to Goods and Services Tax (GST).
• Prepare and respond to Show Cause Notices (SCNs) and other communications from GST authorities.
• Address technical GST queries raised by internal business and finance teams.
• Interact with GST department officials to ensure timely resolution of queries and matters.
• Collaborate with finance functions to gather and analyse data for departmental notices and audits.
• Participate in GST audits and support discussions with tax authorities.
• Stay updated on changes in GST laws, rules, and notifications and ensure timely adoption.
• Support strong compliance and governance standards in indirect taxation.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in an indirect tax role with hands‑on GST litigation exposure.
• Strong practical knowledge of GST law and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
• Attention to detail and a structured approach to regulatory matters.
• Experience in a corporate or large‑organization indirect tax environment.
• Ability to manage multiple matters while meeting regulatory timelines.
• Proactive mindset with willingness to continuously learn tax law changes.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with internal teams and external authorities.
