Contract Team Lead – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role

The Contract Team Lead will drive strategic contract management for wind, solar and hybrid renewable energy projects. You will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, administering and allocating risk in commercial agreements while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the drafting, review, negotiation and finalisation of MSAs, WTGAs, BoS/BoP, EPC, IPP and O&M agreements.
• Structure and negotiate commercial risk clauses such as liquidated damages, warranties, limitation of liability, force majeure and termination.
• Ensure contracts align with commercial, legal, taxation and renewable‑energy regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with project, procurement, finance, legal teams, external counsel, OEMs and contractors to resolve disputes and optimise outcomes.
• Manage contractual claims, dispute resolution and risk mitigation strategies.
• Maintain governance, approval processes, documentation standards and audit compliance.
• Drive timely contract closure to support project execution schedules.
• Improve contract templates, governance practices and capture lessons learned.
• Monitor CERC/State regulations, MNRE guidelines, IEC/CEA standards and industry best practices.

Required profile

• B.Tech/BE in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering (mandatory).
• Additional qualification in Law, MBA or Contract Management (preferred).
• 13‑20 years of contract management experience in renewable energy, EPC or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven experience with wind, solar and hybrid project contracts (EPC, WTG, BoS/BoP, O&M, IPP).
• Strong understanding of commercial contracting, taxation, dispute management and regulatory frameworks.
• Exposure to CERC/State RE regulations, MNRE guidelines and IEC/CEA standards.
• Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, risk allocation, claims management and dispute resolution.
• Excellent stakeholder management, analytical and conflict‑resolution capabilities.
• Proficiency with SAP or other ERP systems.
