About the role
The Westin Mumbai Garden City is seeking a dedicated Commis I to support its Food & Beverage operations. This full‑time position involves preparing special meals, maintaining kitchen standards, and assisting the culinary team during busy periods.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare special meals, substitute items and cold foods according to recipes.
- Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters.
- Thaw frozen items in refrigeration units and ensure proper portioning, arrangement and garnish.
- Maintain food logs, monitor quality and quantity of prepared dishes.
- Communicate assistance needs, inform the Chef of excess inventory and update service staff on menu specials or out‑of‑stock items.
- Follow all safety, security and company policies; report maintenance issues and accidents.
- Support management with hiring, training, scheduling and employee coaching as needed.
- Perform physical duties such as lifting up to 25 lb, standing for extended periods and reaching overhead.
Required profile
- Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant food‑preparation experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No specific license or certification required.
