About the role

The Zonal Merchant Lead is responsible for driving merchant acquisition and activation across a defined geographic circle. This role ensures the brand’s visibility in the marketplace, supports cross‑functional teams, and leads a team of merchant executives to achieve growth targets.

Key responsibilities

  • Acquire new merchants (both small and large‑format retail) within the assigned circle.
  • Activate merchants and ensure they meet throughput and unique‑customer targets.
  • Maintain brand visibility in the market and monitor competitor activities.
  • Coordinate with marketing, MIS, and sales teams to secure necessary support for merchant initiatives.
  • Plan and execute strategies to meet acquisition, activation, and revenue goals.
  • Train, develop, and mentor team leads and merchant executives.
  • Provide regular updates to management on market dynamics and performance.

Required profile

  • Strong knowledge of the local geography to allocate resources effectively.
  • Proven experience in merchant acquisition and activation.
  • Ability to lead and develop a sales team.
  • Excellent coordination skills with cross‑functional departments.
