Web Development Specialist

About the role

Sovos is looking for a Web Development Specialist to design, build, and maintain high‑performing digital platforms that support its global tax compliance solutions. You will work at the intersection of CMS development, modern frontend engineering, and marketing technology integration.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and upkeep of WordPress and Drupal sites, including custom themes, modules, and plugins.
• Create scalable frontend components using JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and optionally React.
• Design, implement, and maintain REST APIs, webhooks, and headless/decoupled CMS architectures.
• Optimize websites for Core Web Vitals, SEO, accessibility, and overall performance.
• Collaborate with marketing, analytics, and design teams to deliver business‑aligned solutions.
• Integrate analytics frameworks (GTM, GA4) and translate tracking requirements into technical implementations.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior developers.
• Define best practices for code quality, security, scalability, and ensure high availability of enterprise‑grade sites.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience with WordPress and/or Drupal.
• Strong object‑oriented PHP knowledge and understanding of CMS architecture.
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, and front‑end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, SCSS).
• Experience with RESTful APIs, headless CMS, MySQL optimization, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with performance and security best practices (caching, CDN, secure coding).
