Truck Driver – Scrap Material Transport

About the role

Charter Manufacturing is seeking a reliable Truck Driver to transport scrap materials safely and efficiently between customer locations and the yard. The role supports daily scrap yard operations, maintains positive customer relationships, and contributes to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Safely deliver and pick up scrap metal from various off‑site facilities.
• Review and secure Bill of Lading and related paperwork.
• Inspect trucks and trailers before and after trips, reporting any issues.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel use, and hours of service.
• Communicate effectively with the Logistics & Scale Manager and customers.
• Follow designated routes, meet delivery schedules, and ensure vehicle cleanliness and maintenance.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (or enrollment in the company GED program).
• Class A CDL license.
• At least one year of experience driving dump or flatbed trucks.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in compliance with DOT requirements.
• Ability to follow federal and state transportation regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Class A CDL license.
• Hazmat endorsement and/or TWIC card.
• Experience operating bucket, roll‑off and lugger trucks.
• Familiarity with electronic logging device (ELD) systems.
