Tool Room Technician – Tool Maintenance & Support

About the role

The Tool Room Technician ensures that all tools, equipment and machinery used in production are maintained, repaired and ready for use. This position supports efficient manufacturing by keeping the tool inventory organized and guaranteeing that tools meet safety and performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on tools, machining equipment, welding gear and electrical devices.
• Replace or refurbish worn or damaged parts to extend tool life.
• Maintain an orderly tool room, manage inventory, track usage and ensure proper storage.
• Calibrate tools and verify compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with production teams to resolve tool‑related issues and minimise downtime.
• Conduct regular inspections to prevent quality problems.
• Document maintenance activities, generate reports and keep accurate logs of inventory and spare parts.
• Identify improvement opportunities, suggest upgrades and stay informed about new tooling technologies.

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent technical education.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Tool Room Technician or in a similar maintenance role.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
