Theatre Practitioner (Band 5) – Permanent, 36h/week

About the role

Theatre Practitioner role within the Theatre Department of Borders General Hospital, supporting the peri‑operative team on a permanent, full‑time basis (36 hours per week). The position offers a dynamic environment where you will contribute to high‑quality patient care and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe and effective peri‑operative care as a registered theatre practitioner.
• Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and intra‑operative support.
• Participate in staff appraisals, training and development of nursing, ODP, ATP and HCSW colleagues.
• Maintain compliance with EPP clearance and relevant regulatory checks.
• Work day shifts with out‑of‑hours and on‑call commitments as required.

Required profile

• Registered theatre practitioner (Band 5) with appropriate professional registration.
• Ability to adapt to a busy, multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of quality care.
• Willingness to undergo pre‑employment checks, including criminal records and PVG scheme where applicable.
