Technical Commodity Specialist – Hydro Power

About the role

GE Vernova is seeking a Technical Commodity Specialist to support the procurement of goods and services for turbine‑generator groups within its Hydro Power North America projects. The role focuses on welded structures, machining, painting, and rehabilitation commodities.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze equipment acquisition needs across multiple hydro projects.
• Prepare purchase forecasts that incorporate project timelines and current market offers.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with corporate policies while driving cost reductions.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, quality and other functions to implement purchasing plans.
• Identify and achieve annual business and cost‑reduction targets.
• Generate and coordinate cost‑optimization ideas during both offer and implementation phases.
• Lead the creation, negotiation, and signing of framework agreements and price lists, including supplier qualification and tender management.
• Maintain and update existing framework agreements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or sourcing for industrial or energy projects.
• Strong analytical skills to assess equipment needs and forecast purchases.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, sales, and quality teams.
• Track record of delivering cost‑reduction initiatives.
