TAC Engineer 1 – Software (Hybrid, Bangalore)

About the role

This hybrid position is based in Bangalore and joins HPE's global technical support team. You will provide Tier‑1 software support for enterprise networking and Network Access Control (ClearPass) solutions, assisting customers worldwide via phone, email and chat.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support for networking and ClearPass‑related issues to global customers.
• Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity, authentication and access‑control problems (802.1X, RADIUS, guest authentication).
• Analyze logs, configurations and basic packet captures to identify root causes.
• Document issues, steps taken and resolutions in ticketing tools.
• Collaborate with senior engineers for escalations and complex cases.
• Follow defined processes and SLAs in a 24x7 support environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Networking or a related field.
• Typically 1+ years of relevant experience or strong technical aptitude demonstrated through training, certifications or internships.
• Advanced level of English (verbal and written).

Required skills

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: OSI model, TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnetting, ARP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, switching basics, static routing, broadcast/multicast/unicast traffic, STP and link aggregation.
• Knowledge of network authentication concepts: AAA, 802.1X, RADIUS, guest authentication.
• Basic network security fundamentals.
• Wireless networking basics.
• Basic Active Directory and LDAP awareness.
• Basic Linux command‑line usage, log navigation and troubleshooting.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills with ability to work in a structured support environment.
